Valentines Day at Cafe Select ·
-/////-

I’m hanging a few paintings up at Cafe Select (Edmonton, Alberta, Canada) in time for their Valentines Day 2006 party. The Field Experience will be there singing their damned little hearts out.

It’s called Guiltner’s Feast of the Senses. There’ll be some some art by Ian Mulder, Ted Kerr, Rob Buttery, Kris Johnson, Michael Bablitz, and the coolest kid in town…. Steve-Dave!

If you don’t know Steve-Dave, he’s the dude (or dudette) who rocked the Sugarbowl a few months back with kickass Tom Selleck and Ghandi paintings with his (or her) show Nocturnal Missions

Professor Steven Kurtz ·

The FBI illegally detained the artist Professor Kurtz on his way to his wife’s funeral. He had petri dishes in his studio home he uses for his art. The FBI are now trying to prosecute him for manufacturing biological weapons. YIKES!

Jean Michel Basquiat ·

Reebok has released a Basquiat shoe. I don’t feel right about this. I’m not sure why. I have a feeling Basquiat would’ve been more supportive of the Blackspot Unswoosher. I guess that’s the thing, though. Nobody’s supposed to speak for a dead guy. Klimt would’ve loved Sex in the City.

FBI top ten art crimes ·
-/////-

The FBI published their top ten unsolved art crimes. The surprise was the number one art crime – was in Iraq. Maybe the American government was pressured to invade by the art collector industry.

Including missing is the Statue of Entemena which dates back to the middle of the 3rd millennium B.C. (c. 2430 B.C.) It appears that the Iraq Museum International has a nice collection.

Grand Bazaar on 4th ·
-/////-

If you live near, in, or above Edmonton, you should check out the Bazaar on 4th. I don’t know exactly what to expect, but it’s dubbed “A Rebellious Christmas Experience,” which is enough to get me anywhere.

It’s happening on Saturday December 3rd from 12 to 8pm and on Sunday from 12 to 6pm. It’s at the Saddelry Gallery at 10145 – 104 Street.

The ever-charming Juliana from White Bike Designs is putting it together. If you have any questions, you can email her here.

Here’s the offical invitation.
