I managed to hook up with a good friend in Vancouver this past week. He always seems to know something everyone else doesn’t. His paintings were hanging at the Contemporary Art Gallery and at the Blanket Gallery.

I love how this girl can handle oil paint. The fact that she’s into comics doesn’t hurt either. Check the good n’ lucky.

This guy deserves the props he’s been getting for his deadly figurative paintings. I saw a little interview where he was describing that his work is a kind of urban renaissance. He’s got a show at Axis Contemporary Art in Calgary (100 – 7th Avenue SW) Uma Thurman bought some of his work, so you know he’s good.

It’s difficult enough painting with my hands. I’ve always admired people who can do paint without arms.

The master of New Sincerity Art is Brandon Bird. The term New Sincerity has fascinated me as of late and is a term referencing our post-sarcasm Sienfeld culture. I think Jesse Thorn of The Sound of New America came up with it.
